of China has reiterated commitment
of his government to the strategic
relationship with Pakistan and hoped
that appointment of Federal Minister
for Economic Affairs will further
strengthen relationship between the
two countries.
He said this during meeting with
Federal Minster for Economic Affairs
Muhammad Hammad Azhar. The
Ambassador stated that priority
in the second phase is on socio-
economic sector projects, with grant
financing for direct benefit of common
 man. To promote B2B relationship
 for technological and industrial
 development in order to augment
 Pakistan’s capacity to export was
 also a priority area for the Chinese
 government. Establishment of
 Special Economic Zones remained an
 important milestone.
 The Minister Muhammad Hammad
 Azhar stated that the CPEC is a flagship
 programme of Belt and Road initiative
 which is now entering into a new
 phase.
Dr Christian Turner new
 British H.C. in Pakistan
Dr Christian Turner CMG has been
 appointed British High Commissioner
 to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in
 succession to Mr Thomas Drew CMG who
 will be transferring to another Diplomatic
 Service appointment.
 Dr Turner will take up his appointment by
 December 2019.
German Embassy joins
 “Clean, Green Pakistan” drive
As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government has undertaken
a fascinating initiative of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ for combating climate
change and its adverse impacts on the environment and health, the German
Embassy in Islamabad distributed cloth bags among people and students as
an alternative to polythene shopping bags.
Since August 14, under the
Clean and Green Pakistan
campaign, polythene bags,
plastic bottles, and wrappers
for carrying food items have
been completely banned in
Islamabad.The official Twitter
account of the Embassy has
posted multiple pictures of
the staff being welcomed by
citizens at different locations
in the federal capital.
The Government of Japan has announced grant aid
worth around 560 million Japanese Yen (5.2 million
USD) to the United Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO) to support Agri-Food and Agro-
Industry Development in Pakistan’s Province of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Notes to this effect were signed and exchanged between
Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan
and Ms. Nadia Aftab, Country Representative of UNIDO.
A Grant Agreement on the details of implementation of
the project was signed and exchanged between Shigeki
Furuta, Chief Representative of Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ms. Nadia Aftab in the
presence of Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan,
Federal Minister for Ministry of National Food Security
and Research.
